5 Spring Trends To Follow This Season  – Styled by McKenz

While I’ve never been the hugest fan of spring, I have to admit there’s something so liberating about swapping our winter layers for spring pieces! I’ve been spending the last few weeks scouring WGSN and Donegar for my Fashion Forecasting projects and have read up on all kinds of trends.

Naturally, as soon as I finished reading about them, they seem to be popping up in all of my local stores. Pastels, platforms, and puff sleeves—there are all kinds of looks I’m ready to rock this spring. I popped in the local boutique (and online retailer) Knuth’s this past week and grabbed some funky new finds! I’m styling those pieces for ya today to give you a little bit of outfit inspo for the upcoming months. Keep an eye out for these hot trends!

Colored Denim

I knew I was a trendsetter from the ripe age of thirteen. In middle school, I had a premature obsession with Abercrombie & Fitch so naturally when I found a pair of their colored jeans hanging on the clearance rack at TJ Maxx I just had to have them. They were bright green skinny jeans and I loved them. Before I knew it, everyone was wearing colored denim.

When I read that colored jeans were going to be returning this year, I was first hesitant and then a little nostalgic. Seeing these green straight-leg jeans at Knuth’s brought me right back to my OG fashionista days. Thankfully, they’ve been modernized a bit and I’ve moved on from the brow braided leather belt I used to wear with them, lol.

These collared sweater tees have been all the rage recently and with this one being white I figured it goes perfectly with these pop of color pants. As for shoes, I went for a simple slip-on mule. These are Jeffree Campbell and are that jelly material that’s so popular right now. I love the way this style of shoe pairs with ankle-length jeans. I went for my usual gold jewels and added a cute smiley bag to accessorize.

Pretty In Pastels

Do pastels ever really go out of style? I don’t really think so and yet I find myself including them in spring trend forecasts every single year. They are incredibly timeless and this chunky sweater made me feel like a literal Easter egg. It’s still a little chilly here in Ohio so something like this is perfect to transition into spring.

White pants season is also back! I’ve been struggling to find a pair of jeans that fit me well and stumbled across these chino-style bottoms. These are super lightweight and have just the right fit to them—high-waisted, and ankle cut to show off a cute pair of sandals or even heels. Naturally, I grabbed a light pink pair to go with my sweater. These have a textured band that I’ve been seeing all over recently. They look adorable with this fit but could also work well with casual looks too!

Powerful In Puff Sleeves

White dress season is among us. I polled my Instagram followers last week and was shocked to see a whopping 47% say that they were graduating either high school or college this year. Needless to say, there are lots of you looking for a white dress to sport this spring. I’ve been working on a separate blog post featuring all of my favorites, but in the meantime, I wanted to share this one.

I’m a sucker for puff sleeves and they are back and better than ever this spring. These five off such a feminine vibe and with an open-back cutout this is incredibly timeless. Not to mention, the quality of these pieces is insane so they can be worn for various different occasions.

5 Spring Trends To Follow This Season As for shoes, I’m wearing these adorable white heels from Sam Edelman. They are just the right height to wear for hours on end giving you just enough lift without killing your feet. As for my purse, I’m rocking a quilted crossbody.

Spring In Straw

When I think of spring, I instantly think of a pretty maxi dress. While the last look was perfect for a dressed-up vibe, this simple style is ideal for a spring break vacation. The white eyelet lace keeps things nice and casual. Plus, the fit of this dress is so timeless that it’s something you can keep in your closet for years to come.

The last few seasons we’ve seen all kinds of straw accessories making their way to the forefront of retailers. I’ve been hooked since the beginning and don’t plan on letting up this year! In fact, I’ve added a few new pieces to my collection, including my all-time favorite heels—the Dolce Vita Pailey in this whicker, espadrille material. These are hands down my most comfortable heels; so much so that I have them in over four colors now. Of course, I picked up an embellished clutch to match. I love!

Pump Up Platforms

Before I started working with different brands, this kind of “mom” outfit used to be my go-to uniform. To be honest, I still love this preppy girl vibe and was thrilled to get back into it for the sake of this blog post. This adorable white blouse is from Steve Madden’s new clothing line. I’m loving the feminine accents—the sweet ruffles along the shoulders and the fun tassels along the front.

Come spring, I like to switch back over to cropped flare pants. These jeans have a low-rise that’s back and better than ever.

Because these too were more of an ankle-length, I figured a chunky shoe would look best. These platforms are from Dolce Vita’s new collection and are so adorable. They are incredibly lightweight making them super easy to walk in. This is the perfect fit for Sunday church and then brunch!

The best part of spring fashion is being one step closer to summer. I can hardly wait to break out my skirts and tanks! Stay tuned for all kinds of warm-weather looks coming your way. In the meantime, stop into Kuth’s in Cleveland or shop online to recreate my current favorite looks!

With love, McKenz
